All ACA-compatible health insurance plans cover a variety of preventive immunizations for babies, children, and adults.

Many routine adult and childhood immunizations that are covered by your health insurance plan. But not all immunizations are covered-in-full (opens in new tab).

The ACA (opens in new tab) takes immunizations (also known as vaccines (opens in new tab)) so seriously that it requires them to be covered-in-full (that means free to you!) by insurance when administered by in-network providers or care facilities, regardless of whether you’ve met your deductible (opens in new tab). Here’s what you need to know.

No matter which plan you have, you won’t have to pay for the following vaccinations when you get them through an in-network doctor or health care professional:

• DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis) vaccine
• Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) vaccine
• Td (tetanus and diphtheria) vaccine
• Inactivated Polio (IPV) vaccine
• MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine
• Haemophilus influenza type B (Hib) vaccine
• Hepatitis A Virus vaccine
• Hepatitis B Virus vaccine
• HPV (human papillomavirus) vaccine
• Meningococcal (meningitis) vaccine
• Pneumococcal Conjugate vaccine
• Pneumococcal vaccine
• Rotavirus (RV) vaccine
• RSV vaccines
• Seasonal Influenza (seasonal flu shot) vaccine
• Varicella (chickenpox) vaccine
• Zoster (shingles) vaccine

Immunizations are recommended for children and adults at specific ages or in specific seasons, so check with the CDC's vaccine schedule (opens in new tab) to see if you're due for any of the above.

Note that travel-related vaccines are not typically covered in full by your health plan.
