Machines augment us, they don’t replace us

At Oscar, we value the unique skills and abilities each candidate brings to the table. Artificial intelligence (AI) can be a powerful tool to enhance your application materials and support your preparation process. However, it is crucial that AI is used to complement, not replace, your own skills and abilities. These guidelines are to help clarify the acceptable use of AI during the interview process at Oscar, and ensure that candidates can effectively showcase their true potential.

Guidance for Interview Stages

    • Candidates may use AI to enhance their resumes and cover letters by improving formatting, spell-checking, or tailoring content with relevant keywords.

You are responsible, however, for ensuring that your application materials accurately represent your qualifications and skills.

Misrepresentation, whether due to the use of AI or not, may lead to disqualification of your candidacy.

    • AI can be a valuable resource for informing your work on take-home assignments and case studies.

You are allowed to use AI to gather information and insights. However, it is essential that your response to an assignment reflect your original conclusions and perspectives, showcasing your unique approach to the task.

You should be able to demonstrate your thought processes and reasoning for your final submission.

    • During live interviews, including live coding assessments, the use of AI is not permitted.

These interview settings are designed to evaluate your thought process, communication skills, and future job performance.

While AI can be used for interview preparation, it is crucial during the actual interview to demonstrate authenticity and a genuine understanding of the subject matter.

How We Use AI:

To support our recruiting process, Oscar Health uses two independent automated tools to evaluate candidate applications: the Eightfold Matching Model and Greenhouse Talent Matching. Each tool generates a separate "match score" indicating the compatibility between your qualifications and a job's requirements. The characteristics assessed by these tools include, but are not limited to, skills listed in your application, previous job titles and responsibilities, years of relevant experience, and educational background.Human Oversight & Your RightsWhile the match score provides valuable insights, it does not replace human decision-making. Candidates may apply for any open position, and Oscar Health hiring teams are free to pursue the candidates of their choice, regardless of the match score. To request a reasonable accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act or other applicable law, please contact accommodations@hioscar.com.Privacy & Data RetentionThese tools analyze only the information you provide in your application materials.
